Type "LFG to cap <skillname>" in the chat at the nearest outpost?

See the henchies standing around looking bored? They're my first choice when I go skill capping.

Mine too! There's too many people that go out in skill capping groups who bail as soon as they get the skill they went after, leaving everyone else high and dry.

While boring, it has to be better than the "art" that often is found on maps when with other players. . . And really, they are just a few trolls. Unless you went and aggroed 15 of em of course

Henchmen are the way to go I say. You should have no trouble getting whatever skill you are looking for with a group of them, and if you don't know the location of the skill plenty of databases could tell you.

Have you actually been in that troll cave???? There are about 15-16 trolls close together... more if your "lucky" why do you think farmers farm them

Yes, I have been in the cave (even farmed it a bit). While there are a lot of trolls, the boss does spawn in another area if the cave is to difficult for the henchmen in the end. Mostly, the trolls were in two packs of 8 or so, each aggroable separately. Perhaps I'll have to go see if I can clear it with henchies. . .

When I capped Escape and Battle rage, neither time did I have any henchie casualties.

The rules of careful aggro still apply. Its not a hard place to clear

For elites either I call for guildies, or go with hench. If you don't wanna be alone just chat on guildchat while henching

Well there are a few advantages to henchies when capping
1. Henchies don't need to cap elites. When you're using henchies you can go straight for the elites you need, and not spend tons of time killing things that don't benifit.
2. Henchies are predictable. They may not be the best players, but you can always count on them to react the same way to the same things. Don't ever worry about morons aggroing for no good reason, or crazy people trying to convince the party that the elite they need is "just a little farther".
3. Henchies don't talk smack. If you suck, they ain't gonna tell no one :P

People solo it not because the trolls are inately weak, but because they design a build to solo it. I'm sure if the hench used the same build they could do the same thing.

Yup, henchies suck at times and at times, it's boring... but then, they're gonna stay till I cap the skill I'm after and not just leave after they got what they want.

Also, I REALLY can't be bothered trying to find a team to go skill capping at perdition rock, when I know the area well enough to know what henchies to bring and spend about half an hour clearing the island far enough to find the 3 skills (plus a few random bosses) that I'm after.

All up, the only place I really hate skill capping in is where there are avicaras, but I hate that place with a pug as much as I do with henchies.

But.. the one place henchies suck badly for skill capping is Iron Mines because they're just not infused enough.

I've never seen henchies be predictable ever since they fixed them floating in air and running off after you res. It's gotten worse each update ever since.

I've capped tons of elites with henchies -- on Perdition Rock, outside Camp Rancor in both directions, in Frozen Forest, Spearhead Peak, even the Thirsty River mission (my professions were in the first two groups). For a few (the Mineral Springs ones, Obsidian Flesh, Dragon's Lair) I went with one other human player and the henchies.

Never had any trouble with the trolls and henchies with a warrior and a monk primary (my ele should be there shortly). I've cleared and capped skills in mineral springs several times, that was MUCH more difficult than the trolls (freaking ranger birds spam ignite arrows and dual-shot with the henchies just standing all in one little group taking it - with 4-6 of them thats A LOT of damage). I've even gone as a somewhat low level warrior after having been run there once and cleared the cave with them (and, obviously, at level 10 or so I'm not the primary damage dealer).

I've ascended several characters with nothing more than henchies and it's not hard to find people here that have beaten some of the more difficult missions with no skills and henchies (IIRC even Ring of Fire). Though I haven't played thunderhead yet (I seem to get bored with the PvE char around that point and start a new character).

LOL I do the same.

If I want a skill by myself then I just use the henches since this way I can go and cap the elite without being tied to anyone in the pug.

Also we go with the guild since in places like outside of ember light there are a number of elites so we go as a mixed group to cap them.

I capped every single elite in the game on my monk. 99% of them were with henches. Contrary to popular belief, henches certainly do not suck for most basic tasks, once you learn to finesse them.
